| 1979 | Established product liability insurance program for members |
| 1980 | First Annual Meeting, election of officers and directors |
| 1983 | First cosmetic regulatory workshop co-sponsored by the U.S. FDA |
| 1986 | 1st publication of Call ME First membership directory (now available online) |
| 1988 | 1st publication of Simplified Guide to Cosmetic Labeling |
| 1989 | ICMAD’s 1st participation in the international trade show Cosmoprof in Bologna, Italy, hosted member reception Brochure and model regulations for cosmetology/salon practices published |
| 1992 | Certificate of Free Sale program for exporting members created Cosmetic packaging scholarship, The J.N. Michell Scholarship, established ICMAD participates in 1st HBA show in New York City |
| 1995 | Cosmetic Leadership Awards Program established (now the CITY Awards) Code of Ethics adopted for member companies. |
| 1998 | Young Designers Competition created A Guide to European Cosmetic Regulations published |
| 1999 | New mission statement and logo adopted |
| 2002 | ICMAD Guidelines to Reduce the Risk of Product Tampering published |
